Phil started his musical life at an early age, as a classically-trained piano player, on one occasion bringing the house down at a school Parent’s evening with a storming rendition of Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag”. He then picked up the guitar and taught himself to play when at sixth form college, having discovered heavy metal and wanting to know how to make *that* sort of noise. The answer was an (admittedly cheap & poor) Les Paul copy, and Phil has been playing Les Paul style guitars ever since.
Over the years, Phil refined his tastes through rock to blues, diversifying into Dance music, DJing, Irish music and BritPop covers. Outside of music, he is widely travelled, and has a passion for rock climbing – he has climbed in many countries including Australia.
Phil has played in various bands over the years, most enjoyably with the Bridgwater-based Irish tribute band “Gang Green”, and now proud to be lead guitarist for The Recovered.
